My review:⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a play on ‘My Fair Lady’s and is set the Gilded Age, but with less singing!

I enjoyed the storyline and the settings, which starts in Liverpool.

I found it to be a fun story, and was a quick read, with a very feisty female lead who is struggling to find her place in her family, and in the world.

The clash of the wealthy Americans coming to Britain, looking for titled husbands for their wealthy heiresses, whilst the British have titles but could very much do with an infusion of cash is story that is told often, but I’ve often encountered it from the side of the British, rather than the American, so that was enjoyable!

Abby Jimenez is one of those authors that I get grabby hands about when I hear there’s a new book coming out!

I’ve read all of her books so far, and really enjoyed them – so much that there have all been 5 star reads, as is this one!

Abby Jimenez manages to put these believable characters in situations that makes me keep wanting to turn pages to find out what happens next!

Yours Truly kept this tradition going! Set in a hospital, it’s a work place romance, with our male lead having anxiety. I found it really interesting the way this was written about.

There are pop ins from previous books, and of course lots of references to Nadia Cakes as Abby Jimenez is the owner and founder!

Trigger warnings for this book are renal failure and miscarriage.

If you’re looking for a book that you’ll have a hard time putting down, then Yours Truly is for you!

Thank you to @netgalley and to @littlebrown for access to read this.

Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez is the 4th book, with some of the same characters popping up.  I have loved every book, and I’m looking forward to her next book due out later this year!

These are contemporary romances, written with humour and empathy.  I found the characters to be well rounded, and very believable.  I was interested in their lives and I was cheering them on.

It’s a fun, easy read, and would be perfect on holiday!

My review:⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Christmas Holiday by Phillipa Ashley is a seasonal romance set in the Lake District.

I really enjoyed this story. I found it to be cosy, sweet and evocative! The descriptions of the Lake District and the community this is set in was great!

All in all, this is a great Christmas read, and one I recommend!

I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review, so my thanks to NetGalley and to Avon Books.

My review:⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Naughty or Nice Clause by Kate Callaghan is a fun Christmas romance, with a bit of fantasy thrown in.

I really enjoyed this and found it to be a fun story. It has enemies to lovers, misunderstandings, misdirection and altogether a great Christmas read!

I was given this in exchange for an unbiased review, so my thanks to NetGalley and CallaghanWriter.

A Very Merry Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams is the story of Colton Wheeler, a famous country music singer thinks he’s met the woman for him when he meets Gretchen Winthrope, an immigration lawyer, but she runs away from him.  A year on, he’s struggling with his career, and she’s trying to make a big decision.

I found this story to be enjoyable, with the right level of Christmas, found family, and family.  There was some spicy scenes, some talk about tropes in romance novels and a good amount of serious moments amongst the romance.

One of the themes of this series is that the men have a friendship group where they read romance novels to learn how to do romance right!

This is the fifth book in the series, but I didn’t feel I was confused by anything.  I enjoyed this book so much that I’ll be looking for more in the series!

I keep a list of authors whose books I really enjoy and I keep an eye out for!  Lyssa Kay Adams is going on that list!

A Very Merry Bromance was published on 1st November 2022, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

One Night With You started with Ruby’s last night in London, and Nic’s first night.  When sparks fly, they both know it is only be for that night, doesn’t it?

This is another love story for Laura Jane Williams that tackles things like lost love, starting again, and what are priorities for different people in relationships.

I really enjoyed this, and found Laura Jane Williams weaves together a great story of modern love.

One Night With You was published on 26th May 2022 and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry is a fun romance, set in New York and Sunshine Falls, North Carolina.

Nora, a book agent, who gets the best for her clients, is off on holiday with her younger sister, for the first time in a long time.  They go to Sunshine Falls, the setting of one of Nora’s clients books, and a favourite of her sister’s.

Charlie is a book editor, who clashed with Nora about this book as he said he found the setting false, but he has the reputation for making best sellers.

I really enjoyed the summer setting, the reality of a place that you build up in your mind, and seeing it, and the differences between big city and small town life in America!

Book Lovers was published on 12th May 2022, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

I have also read Beach Read  and You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry, and loved it!

I have found a company that makes sweatshirts with settings from a range of books, including two of Emily Henry’s, so I’m just going to leave the link here for you (and possibly me) for when they are back in stock! It’s a company called BiblioStyles, based in Canada.

With This Kiss by Carrie Hope Fletcher is about Lorelai, who loves reading and adapting books into screenplays.  She works full time at a cinema in London, and when she kisses someone, she sees their death.  The only one who knows is her best friend, and Lorelai doesn’t plan to change that!

Until, that is, she meets Grayson, the first man who makes Lorelai want more from life, and to find out if she is seeing death or making it happen.

This is a romantic fantasy about Lorelai’s choices regarding this power.  I loved the idea of this book, and found myself getting frustrated at Lorelai, and not being swept away in the story.

I found this to be lacking in character depth, and romantic connection.  I finished it, but I won’t be looking for another book by this author.

With This Kiss was published on 14th April 2022, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Sutanto is the second book in the series, and you really need to have read the first one in order to properly enjoy this one!

This is a book that made me cringe and laugh.  Meddy is getting married to Nathan! In Oxford! And her mother and aunts are ready to get into the swing of England!

There is a slight issue on the wedding day, which involves Meddy, her mother and aunts acting like they’re from a comedy of errors.

I really enjoyed this book from it’s culture clash between both sets of parents, to the outfits Meddy’s family wears,a nd of course the wedding day itself!

This is written with humour, and as the author says herself at the beginning, out of first hand experience, which just adds to the feel of it!

It’s a comedy crime book, and I’ll be happy if there’s more in the series!

Four Aunties and a Wedding was published on 29th March 2022, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

You can read the start of the story in Dial A for Aunties.
