The Dream 1. Jude Script by Jean Dufaux Art by Guillem March is a little strange.  It has Jude, he’s gorgeous, and wants to be in films and so on, but is currently a sex worker, performing live sex acts.  He gets asked to be in a film, and is thrilled.  There are Yakuza, beautiful women, and a surreal quality to this.

It’s a weird story, and one that not everyone is going to enjoy.

The Dream 1. Jude was published on 21st November 2018, and is available from Amazon.

The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon (The Bone Season book 2) has Paige back in London, having escaped Sheol I, but things are still wrong.  Scion is still in charge, and Paige wants to tell the Unnatural Assembly all about the Rephaim, and the truth behind Scion.

Jaxon wants to keep all of that quiet, and wants Paige back with him, but Paige doesn’t feel that’s her place any more.  She is being torn between what life used to be like before she knew the truth, and wanting everyone to know what is really going on.

This is an enjoyable continuation of the story started in The Bone Season.  I enjoyed seeing where the story was going, and look forward to the next book, to see what’s going to happen next!

The Mime Order was published on 27th January 2015, and is available to buy from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas continues Feyre’s story.  She survived Amarantha’s court and gained powers of the High Fae lord’s who brought her back to life, but she isn’t over the emotional toil of what happened at that court.

Tamlin is delighted to have her home in the Spring Court, but she has to abide by the agreement she made with Rhysand, where she has to go off with him.  She feels disconnected from life, and divided as she tries to return to herself.

This is another great fantasy romance book, where you get swept along with the story, seeing how life changes for Feyre, and cheering her on.

A Court of Mist and Fury was published on 3rd May 2016, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

The Dinner Guest by B P Walter is a thriller, where we know from the beginning who dies, and whilst we’re told who has admitted to the killing, we’re also told there’s doubt about the killer.

Matthew and Charlie are married, bringing up Titus, who is the son of Matthew’s late sister.  And Rachel is the woman who changes everything.  She shows up in a bookshop, and whilst Charlie feels uncomfortable, Matthew befriends her.

I really enjoyed the layers of story that are revealed as we go along, with truths uncovered about every character.

The Dinner Guest was published on 1st April 2021, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.

The Best Things by Mel Giedroyc has Sally Parker, a wife and mother, and also a woman struggling to see where she fits in life.  Her husband, Frank, has always provided well, and so there is a nanny, housekeeper, driver for Frank and so on.

When Frank’s business goes belly up, life changes suddenly and dramatically, and Sally has to see if she too can change

I found this book to be quite slow in pace, I liked the ending, but found the story to be very full of characters and story arcs that didn’t need to be there.

You might know Mel Giedroyc a little better as Mel from Mel and Sue on Bake Off.

The Best Things was published on 1st April 2021, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones (signed edition) and Bookshop.org.

I’m afraid I couldn’t find anywhere where you can follow Mel Giedroyc.

Mirrorland by Carole Johnstone has Cat travelling back to Scotland from her life in L.A. after her twin sister, El disappears on her boat.

Cat doesn’t think El has died, she’s positive she’s still alive, but to find her she has to confront the past, at their old house, where they had Mirrorland, a place of makebelieve.

This is a thriller, where things Cat remembers from the past isn’t always what happened, which means you don’t always know if what you’re reading is true.  I enjoyed the story, and the surprises.

Mirrorland was published on 1st April 2021, and is available from Amazon, Waterstones and Bookshop.org.
